I’d like to unhappily announce Sucka.net had it’s first bit of server downtime. Not that I didn’t expect it at some point in time, it’s just that it is never fun. All I could do was watch the load average on the server skyrocket over 500. Causing slow speed, internal 500 errors and your generally unresponsive server. Luckily thanks to the great support team at Dreamhost, the server casually came back to life.
At first I thought it might have been something I had caused. At the time when it started early yesterday morning I was doing some load tests on the server. I was messing with the WP Super Cache settings and coincidentally the server started to die at that time. However, I was watching the resources on the server while doing it and none of the processes related to my account were choaking the server. I was still nervous of course in the back of my head, as strange things do happen.
Anyways, everything is back to how it should be, but feel free to let me know if you have any problems with the site.
