About Sucka.net
Sucka.net over the years has been nothing more than a sandbox for myself. Years ago when I purchased the domain it served as nothing more than a phpBB forum for me and my friends to keep in contact. Take a look at what the Wayback Machine was able to capture over the years on the Sucka.net Archive. Well before such things as Facebook, MySpace and Friendster. As time passed it sat collecting dust on my hosting account with no real purpose.
Then in January of 2009 I like many others in the US got laid off from my job. Several months into my (f)unemployment I started to grow lethargic and was bored out of my mind. I was doing minor consulting jobs for friends and family to keep myself sharp, It was really just another way to burn time while sending resume after resume. Getting nothing back.
While sitting at home thinking about what to do with myself, I thought about all the random stuff I fix. All the small personal projects I get myself into. I’ve never documented any of it. Never put my efforts out there for anyone else to benefit from. The countless days and nights of hunting, searching and solving problems. They were all locked away in my head where no one could find them. 10 years of on and off the job, raw real world experience, I didn’t share it with anyone except for those of my friends who knew to ask me.
So in early June of 2009 I started dedicating time to documenting the things I had been doing. Thats all there really is to Sucka.net .

As I briefly mentioned in the section above, I am a 28 year old consultant to put it shortly. My first job was as a tech in a small home based sports supplements company when I was 17, and have worked in the Information Technology field ever since. I am currently unemployed which was another reason for creating this website. I was laid off from my previous job in late January 2009 like millions others in the US. It was really just a way for me to stay busy and share my efforts.
This is technically my first blog that ever amounted to anything useful. In a weird way, it is my therapy. In the short time that I have been working on Sucka.net I’ve found blogging and creating guides to be quite enjoyable. I’ve always enjoyed helping and teaching others how to use and fix computers. After all, 10 years of working in an industry teaches you quite a few valuable lessons about people, life, and the working environment.
Computer’s and the Internet are my biggest passion, There is always something new to be discovered. I get bored when I am not in an environment that does not challenge me. I think that is why I love technology so much. The rate at which it progresses is astonishing. One of the few things left in the world to pioneer.
I like to consider myself a junior audiophile, while working I always have music playing. I spend more than I should sometimes on speakers and headphones even though I don’t own an iPod, well that’s not 100% true. A couple years ago I won one at a company xmas party, but it just sits in a drawer somewhere in my house. Back in ‘99 I saved up 400 dollars and bought a set of Klipsch Promedia 4.1v2 computer speakers. Not much by today’s standards, but at the time that was a huge amount of money to spend on ‘computer speakers’. They are by no means the best out there, but thats where that love started. Since then I’ve picked up a pair of Sennheiser HD-555’s, Grado SR325’s, Swan D1080MKII’s and hope to have more soon.
I am currently looking for another job, however I hope to find one that matches me and who I am. I’ve worked in so many companies that I would describe as ’sterile’. Long sleeve collared shirt’s with a tie, and I hated it. That’s not me or who I am. I’ve also worked in companies with no dress code what so ever and was simply a happier employee. But don’t get me wrong, there is a time and place for the professional get up. Just not every day, it is pointless and a waste of time.
I also have aspirations of running my own business, but whether I can get myself together to devote myself to something like that is to be determined. But then again, who wouldn’t want to work for themselves instead of for someone else.
I see the world on a lighter note, I am a very sarcastic person. Always seeing the irony in things, understanding that things don’t always go my way. But it is no reason to quit, I always seem to be rolling with the punches. Kinda reminds me of a favorite quote, “…life is what happens when you are planning for the future”.

Keep up the good work!
Hey, first I want to say nice blog. I don’t always agree with your opinion but it’s always a interesting read.
Like reading blogs. Makes me think to make my own blog.
Nice improvement to sucka.net! Glad to see you are being true to yourself and sticking with what you want to do. You are really great at what you do!
