Manually configuring networking via command line in Ubuntu is easy!  More than half the battle is knowing what files to edit.  With that being said, I will be demonstrating how you can bypass the GUI to modify your network interface using the Ubuntu bash shell.

Most user’s configure their network interface at the time of install by default.  But later on you may wish to change those settings to something else.  Especially laptop user’s who are constantly connecting to different networks via wireless and Ethernet.  And like I mentioned earlier, knowing is half the battle!  Understanding basic components of how to do things on any operating system ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience, versus wasting all your time fighting with the computer trying to get it connected to the Internet.

So to put it in simple terms, reading and understanding this quick and easy guide will essentially make you smarter and a better person! OK, maybe not to that extreme.  But it will definitely help you’re overall experience with Linux.

Here are some of the things I’ll be demonstrating for you.
